To know more about Jahal, a game of jokers
Jahal: a game of jokers
Jahal is a card game with 56 cards combining chance and strategy. It is played as by 2, 3, 4 or 5 players.
A game starts as a set of seven families, continues as Rami and lasts about 20 minutes. The presence of 5 jokers and the Jahal “super joker” can change the course of the game. The excitement of the game comes from their unpredictability. Without the jokers, Jahal would just be a game of chance. Thanks to their combined capacities and interchangeable nature under certain conditions, the game is full of surprises. Right until the last moment, everything can change. The aim of the game is to make up families by placing the cards in ascending order in one row per family. Each player takes their turn to participate according to their cards. The winner is the first to have laid down all their cards. Jahal is also a game of memory. You have to memorise symbols and colour. Each family is identified by a symbol. The order of the cards is determined by the colours. The colour order as well as the numerical order are shown on the back of each card at the top. Jahal, first card game in 2010 and Jahido in 2011 have been created by Pierre Clément. See more about the Pierre Clément’s worlds on his website.

David Chelsea about drawings without perspective
David Chelsea wrote on his personnal blog about drawings without perspective… He says about The Banks (Les Berges), Pierre Clément’s drawing : « Elevation is a particular favorite of Tralalajahal artist Pierre Clément, who creates a sense of depth without perspective by his deft use of shadows. »

Finally! We’ve been a fan…
Written by Comics A-GO-GO.
Finally! We’ve been a fan of Pierre Clément for years but his online presence has lagged. We haven’t bothered to search for his work for some time now since it has been hard to get more information and images, but he’s online now.
His website is a treasure trove of his clear line illustrations, although we don’t know what it says since we don’t speak Frog. Pierre has created a wonderful world of cartoon animals in geometrically complex, detailed architecture. Visually, his art is some of the most absorbing work we’ve ever seen. “His style falls into the category of ‘la ligne claire’ which refers to the style of elegant linear cartooning as pioneered by Herge, other notable exponents including Ted Benoit, Joost Swarte and Ever Meulen.” (Cloud 9).
You could lose your mind!
No it’s not the lyrics to Deck The Halls but the title of the book Tralalajahal by French comix artist Pierre Clément.
I was sent (by illustrator Leo Pando) six magnificent pieces of artistic magic illustrated by Pierre Clément and the name of his book to hunt down on the internet.
Pierre has an intricate line style much like fantasy artist Winsor McKay (Little Nemo) and comic strip artist George McManus (Bringing Up Father). Very architectural and with flights of fancy freedom! You could lose your mind!
